In case you are wondering, the answer is no. Most often than not, the techniques taught in a poker book are the same techniques that are discussed in online forums all over the Internet. You can even use different variations of the same technique, such as the isolation and tightening variation of the tight-aggressive strategy. However, there are very few people who play that particular strategy, so it is hardly ever applied in a live game.
Another piece of advice I can give you is that you don’t need to learn every poker strategy there is. You need only those strategies that are mainly worth practicing, and nothing more. You may need to read other strategies, but you should always remember that you learn by doing, not just reading about it.
On the other hand, you should also remember that you shouldn’t worry about whether you are a winning player or a losing one. You should focus on whether you are playing your stake well, and whether you can make a profit from it, whether your opponents are playing their stakes well, and whether you yourself are playing your stake well.
